Lexie with her family on a beach

On June 11th, 2017, Lexie was a passenger on a Jet Ski driven by Mr. Lewis on Kentucky Lake. At the same time and location, Mr. Hughes was driving a pontoon boat behind the jet ski.

The jet ski capsized, throwing Mr. Lewis and Lexie off. Both of them were in the water with life jackets on, as the pontoon boat was approximately 100 yards away. Mr. Hughes never saw Lexie fall into the water.

Lexie was run over by the pontoon boat, striking her with the outboard motor and propeller. The propeller struck Lexie's head and arm causing lacerations, brain injury, and grievous harm.

Lexie had to have several surgeries, and months of physical therapy.

Lexie's Story

"June 11th, 2017 I was involved in a traumatic accident that changed my life completely... Since then, I have faced and overcome adversities throughout my journey, physically and mentally. I am not 100% with my right arm since the accident, but I am truly blessed and thankful to be in the condition I am, considering. I am now an alumni of The University of North Alabama, a hitting/fielding instructor for younger girls striving to live the same softball dream I did as a kid, a volunteer assistant coach at my hometown high school, and a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant pursuing my dream to help others in need. I aspire to help others whom need physical therapy to regain functional outcomes, to decrease their pain, and to build a relationship with each and every patient...As did my therapists who helped me with my recovery journey. I am so very thankful I had God, my family, and my friends by my side through it all."
